TOSKANA BELLE strong runner-up in Gr.3 Jockey Club Oaks Invitational

Purchased by RR Bloodstock for Australian Bloodstock, TOSKANA BELLE competed in her first appearance overseas in the $700,000 Jockey Club Oaks Invitational at Belmont Park last night and finished an excellent second in the Gr.3 contest run over 2,220 metres. Ridden by Lanfranco Dettori, the Andreas Wöhler-trained Shamalgan filly, who won the German Filly Classic in great style six weeks ago, struggled a bit with the tight turns and was ultimately defeated by Belmont Oaks winner McKulick by three-quarters of a length.
